Monthly Dispatch - July 25
Impact strategy, co-working, coalitions and a free zine for you!
Hey friends!
Hope your July has been a good one so far. We’ve recovered from a crazy June and plugged back into some rad projects and plenty of time outside.
Some updates from us 👇
I'm laughing to myself as I share this because I've just started reading Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind - and so the idea of someone calling me an expert feels uncomfortable, to say the least. Partly because I'm not sure that anyone can ever really be an expert at anything, we're always learning and unlearning. But also because the word expert feels like a destination that we're trying to get to, which sucks out the joy of the journey itself. It's in the curiosity and the figuring stuff out that we grow.
But here's what I know to be true - this conversation reminded me that there's a lot of work to be done when it comes to impact. The issues we're dealing with in terms of climate & ocean conservation are urgent, so we can't afford to keep screwing this up.
Fed asked some interesting questions that hopefully make for a useful conversation! Listen to it here.
Super excited to be hosting our co-work house again this year in the SW of France. The co-work house is an opportunity to work alongside like-minded ocean advocates in a beautiful spot with easy access to the forest & surf. We'll make sure you have delicious, healthy food to eat, a bike to ride, and quiet spaces to work so you can have a super productive week.
We’ve partnered with the incredible team at Ocean Shelter to ensure you are located in one of the best spots in Europe for waves - plus access to amazing forest on your doorstep for sunrise & sunset hikes, a yoga deck, saltwater pool, fire pit and hot tub.
Head to our website for more information and to register for a spot!

And finally, we’ve spent the past few weeks working as part of an awesome coalition against deep-sea mining. It has truly been a joyful, scrappy, collaborative and impactful experience (I’m going to write more about it soon). And this weekend, more than 30 events happened across 25 countries - with coastal communities rallying to protest against DSM during the ISA meetings that are currently happening in Kingston, Jamaica.
As you know, we’re kinda nerdy when it comes to zines, so we made one for the coalition, as a useful way for organisers to educate their local communities. If you’d like to use it, then just click on the image below and you’ll find the Canva link. Please just duplicate it if you want to add logos, specific CTA’s for your community etc. And we’d LOVE to know how/where you used it!
That’s a wrap from us - hope you’re finding some time to play outside!
Sending love from our blue space to yours,
Team Protect Blue 🫶🏼
